Nooksack River
During a salmon run in September 1967, many sportsmen in this area witnessed a Bigfoot creature. The nine-foot tall, hairy creature was observed
sitting on a stump in a bog, wading through knee deep water, and trying to pull a large net full of fish ashore. Tracks found in the sand measured thirteen and a half inches long with a forty-five-inch stride. Indian legend have long told of hairy ghosts that traverse the area.

Orcas Island
Creaking beds and low moaning sounds suggest the presence of a very passionate ghost at the Roasario Resort on this island. The spirit of Alice
Rheem, who lived in a mansion that is now part of the resort, returned to reenact good times in her room. She lived here in the late 1930's and died from alcoholism. Her husband built a mansion on the isolated island to try to control his libidinous wife, but his efforts only made her wilder. Her ghost, clad in a skimpy red nightgown, reappears in her old room. In 1987, three traveling entertainers were kept awake all night by the sounds of lovemaking from the room, which was empty at the time. They said the activity started just before midnight, after the light in the room went on and off three times.
Shaw Island
For nearly thirty years an old farmhouse on this island was haunted by the ghost of Fritz Lee, who died in an upstairs room during the 1908 flu
epidemic. Fritz was buried on the property, and his mischievous ghost has been blamed for poltergeist activity reported in his former room. Al and Lotte Wilding first noticed strange things there in 1959, about a year after they moved in. Before long, they only used the room for storage. An unseen presence was heard moving about in the room, objects moved in sudden jerks, and radios tuned themselves to certain stations. In 1987 the Wildings put their farm up for sale but warned prospective buyers that their house was haunted. In 1990 new owners hired a psychic to free the harmless spirit.
